Perfectly Magical. Enchantingly Cursed. Easy to Devour.

I am in love with Adrienne Young. Her book, Sky in the Deep, is one of my favorite reads. I have owned Fable and have yet to read it - though after reading two books by her that I fell in love with, I don't know what's holding me back. For those of us who have already read from her, this is Adrienne Young's debut adult novel.

Magic, murder and the bonds of eternal love. It is the story of four young kids friendship turned sour because of murder. Emery Blackwood, August Salt, Dutch Boden and Lily Morgan had always been inseparable. They grew up on the small island town of Saoirse, brought together by generations of family ties and torn apart by the secrets they started to keep. After a terrible fire set on the Salt Orchard Farm, Lily is found dead - drowned on land and in the middle of the orchard. After accusations, August Salt and his mother flee the town in hopes of a better future out of the line of fire. Though, it is said that the island calls you back. Years later, August finds out just how true that is. Returning to the island, he follows his mother's last wishes to have her ashes buried on the island.

Tensions rise with island secrets, lost magical inheritance, the truth behind Lily's murder, and unforgettable first love. Engrossing setting and tone is Young's super power. She sucks you in. If I wasn't reading this book, I was thinking about it. It contained everything I have been craving and all that I already enjoy. It gave me major Practical Magic vibes and if you know me at all, that is highest of compliments. I never wanted to put the book down. The characters were all enjoyable even though they each carried their own baggage. Magical murder mystery. There is no better combo.

As we are now entering the heart of fall, eager for warm drinks, chilled weather and the crunch of leaves under our feet, Spells for Forgetting, is the perfect book for fall. It releases September 27 this year and trust me, you will want it. You'll wish you had read it in the season. Hands down give this a top 4.5/5! Loved it and cant wait to add it to my shelves.
