Book Recap: The Gilded Wolves (SPOILER ALERT)

Recaps are books that fall within a series. Books in a series tend to have a minimum of a year gap between it and its sequel. The recap is to allow a brief refresher as to the main points of a story to help you when reading the sequel. READ AT YOUR OWN WILL*

Characters:

Severin: seeking vengeance for being stripped of his inheritance within the order. We find out that he is actually not of the house he believed. Though, he doesn't know that. He waived the test.

Laila: she is after the book that created her. Yes, created. She was born still and her parents went to an unknown source to bring her back to life. Given only 18 years to live, she's on her last year of life. Has a gift to "read" the history of objects (tea cup, sweater, any non house-marked item)

Zophia: she got expelled from a crafting university (for blowing up the classroom) and is fighting to get either re-enrolled or to be able to pay for her sister to go to university.

Enrique: seeking approval amongst the historians but seen as a half-blood, doesn't get any credit.

Tristan: Severin's brother by bond. Botanist. Lover of tarantulas. Died at the end of the book by the leader of the Forgotten House at a celebration party.

Hypnos: loner and member of the Order. Groups up with the above group to protect the Horus Eye by his father's dying request.

Love Interests:

Severin and Laila: They had one steamy night long ago and have not spoken of it since. They both are dying to be together but Laila won't let Severin get close because of her short life expectancy. Severin wants nothing to do with her or anyone else really after his brother, Tristan dies.

Zophia and Enrique: They started to feel some spark and attraction to each other (which was way harder and weirder for Zophia to admit than Enrique) but have made zero moves. Zophia caught Enrique and Hypnos kissing and has not mentioned her attraction since.

Enrique and Hypnos: these guys are hot and they both know it. They shared a kiss and have been slightly steamy ever since.

Plot:

We start off with introductions to the group and each one of their POVS. They all live in Severin's hotel (while he didn't inherit his position in the Order, he did inherit all of the money). They all go around finding and stealing certain house objects or ex-house objects which is where we open on - Enrique and Severin on a mission.

The fourth and "forgotten house" is mentioned here and there but becomes reality when they sabotage one of their missions. Hypnos, a Order House member around the same age as Severin requests his meeting as he is who they stole from. Together they agree to help each other out in payment of the crime.

While on a mission to obtain the Horus Eye and a lot of code cracking later, weird things occur and meet ins with the Forgotten House begin. On their biggest mission yet, it gets foiled and they realize the forgotten house has some-how survived all these years. They are on a mission to awaken the Babel Tower protector. That gets shot and the team foils them back.

While celebrating, the Forgotten House member comes back in vengeance and kills Tristan. Now, Severin refuses to take the test that would re-instate him (though it actually wouldn't because he isn't the heir to that house and he "must not know") everyone is basically depressed and they make plans to go to Russia in hopes of more answers and further adventures.
